Whenever possible, we perform gynecological surgery using minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robot-assisted surgeries. These types of procedures are able to provide you with numerous potential benefits, including minimal scarring, a shorter hospital stay and faster overall recovery.
Hysterectomy surgery
A hysterectomy is a surgery to remove a woman's uterus. Your doctor may recommend a hysterectomy if you have uterine fibroids, gynecological cancer, endometriosis or another condition impacting the health of your uterus or reproductive system.
Depending on the reason for the hysterectomy, your surgeon may choose to remove all or only part of the uterus. A total hysterectomy removes the entire uterus and cervix, while a partial hysterectomy only removes the upper part of the uterus.
In more serious instances, such as someone experiencing cancer, a radical hysterectomy may be performed. This procedure removes the whole uterus, surrounding tissue, cervix and the top part of the vagina.
Laparoscopic fibroid ablation surgery
As you age, risks for uterine fibroids increase, with most women experiencing them by age 50. If you have fibroids, you may encounter pain during intercourse, heavy period bleeding, periods extending beyond one week, pelvic discomfort, frequent urination, constipation and back or leg pain.
In an effort to provide more options for women experiencing uterine fibroids, we offer an alternative procedure to hysterectomies and myomectomies. If you desire to be fertile, but are experiencing fibroid symptoms, traditional treatments typically require longer recoveries and are more invasive. Our advanced, minimally invasive laparoscopic fibroid ablation treatment identifies and destroys fibroid tissue, while protecting your uterus. With this uterine-sparing option, you can return home within the same day and perform normal activity within three to five days.
We can perform the laparoscopic fibroid ablation procedure using robotic technology. In addition to the benefits of standard procedure, the robot-assisted option is able to more precisely remove unusually large fibroids.
