Fort Worth mother returns to Methodist Hospital | Hill Country for personalized birthing experience
Fredericksburg, Texas — Having a baby can be joyful, emotional and stressful. For Courtney Perry, 29, finding the right hospital made such a difference that she chose Methodist Hospital | Hill Country for all three of her deliveries, including her most recent birth after her family moved to Fort Worth.
Courtney first came to Methodist Hospital | Hill Country in 2022 while living in Kerrville. She delivered her first child, Charlie, at the hospital and quickly felt at home.
“I liked the size of the hospital,” she said. “Childbirth is a very personal experience, and at Methodist Hospital | Hill Country, I felt like the only patient in the hospital.”
Courtney wanted an unmedicated natural childbirth and said Methodist Hospital | Hill Country offered the personal, supportive environment she was looking for.
“I knew what I wanted,” she said. “With other hospitals, you can get lost among the other patients. They often make decisions for you, and the patient has no say. At Methodist Hospital | Hill Country, I had a voice, and I had a wonderful doctor, too.”
She added that her two older sisters have careers in healthcare with one being a surgeon. “We have high expectations,” she said.
One relationship made the experience especially meaningful: Olivia Bates, RN, CNA, cared for Courtney during all three of her deliveries. Olivia also shared a connection with Courtney’s husband, Johnathan. Both grew up in Kerrville and were familiar with many of the same schools and community events. “She is the best of the best,” said Courtney. “She knew when to lighten the mood with a joke and when to be serious.”
Olivia helped deliver Charlie and Eli. After Courtney and her family moved to Fort Worth in 2024, they returned to Fredericksburg for the birth of Margot in April 2026. When Courtney arrived at 3 a.m. April 26, Olivia was called in after working the day shift and returned to help with the delivery.
“I was honored that they came back to deliver with us,” said Olivia. “At the Cailloux Birthing Center, we are a small unit and as long as mom and baby are doing well, our doctors listen to our patients’ wishes. Delivering a baby is one of the most vulnerable and important times in a woman’s life. I want to be there to help these babies come into the world.”
