Methodist Hospital Metropolitan welcomed the New Year with double the joy, as two babies made their debut just minutes apart in the hospital’s Labor & Delivery unit. The back-to-back arrivals created an unforgettable start to 2026 for both families and the care team.

This year’s first baby, a healthy girl named Snaya San Martin Esuijarosa arrived just 51 seconds after midnight on January 1, 2026. Baby Snaya weighed 5lbs, 5oz and measured 19 inches. Proud mom, Amaya Esuijarosa, and dad, Yosuany San Martin Reyes, are excited to be first-time parents and thrilled to celebrate this special milestone.

Less than three minutes later, in a nearby room, the second baby of the year made her debut! Baby Kali Amor Bautista, born at 12:03:07am, weighed 8 lbs and measured 20 inches. Her parents, Melissa Jose and Juan Bautista, shared their excitement about welcoming their daughter at such a memorable moment.

“There isn’t a more exciting or special way to ring in the new year than with the arrival of not one, but two precious babies, especially our city’s first of the year,” said Sunni Garrett, director of women’s services at Methodist Hospital Metropolitan. “The energy and excitement in the department were palpable. Our physicians, nurses, techs, and entire team were honored to share in this joyful moment with both families. Welcoming Baby Snaya and Baby Kali was truly rewarding and a beautiful start to the year.”

“Welcoming San Antonio’s first two babies of the year is a joyful reminder of why we do what we do,” said Greg Seiler, chief executive officer of Methodist Hospital Metropolitan. “Our team is honored to provide exceptional care to families during life’s most meaningful moments. We’re excited to welcome many more babies and share in countless celebrations with families throughout the year ahead!”
