Advanced technology transforms women's cardiovascular care in Far West San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas — Methodist Hospital Westover Hills now offers coronary microvascular testing, a breakthrough heart diagnostic technology that is transforming how cardiovascular disease is identified and treated in women.

The addition of this advanced testing is especially significant during Heart Month. According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women, affecting nearly half of women ages 20 and older, many of whom are unaware of their risk.

Traditional cardiac catheterizations focus on the large arteries supplying blood to the heart. Coronary microvascular testing evaluates blood flow within the heart’s smallest vessels, helping physicians diagnose and treat women experiencing persistent, previously unexplained chest pain.
